LibQUAL+ 2008

In April 2008 Dartmouth College Library invited faculty, undergraduate and graduate students, college staff and library staff to participate in the LibQUAL+ survey.  Results from this survey can be found in the Dartmouth College Library LibQUAL+ 2008 Concise Report.

A low response rate limited the ways the results can be used.  The results provide an indication, but not a definitive one, of the views of all undergraduates, graduate students, faculty, and college staff.

LibQUAL+ is just one part of the library's overall assessment program which utilizes a variety of methods including surveys, focus groups, and user feedback to assess the library's collections and services.  Valuable lessons were learned during the course of the survey that will be beneficial when conducting future surveys.

LibQUAL+ is a suite of services that libraries use to solicit, track, understand, and act upon users' opinions of service quality. The program's centerpiece is a rigorously tested Web-based survey that helps libraries assess and improve library services. The survey measures the gaps between desired expectations of service quality, perceived performance, and minimum expectations of service quality.  LibQUAL+ is offered to the library community through the Association of Research Libraries (ARL).
