- When you are at the search results screen, click on the "RefWorks" link.
- Select either "Marked References" or "Use Records from the Current Search."
- Click on the "Export to RefWorks" button.
- When prompted, log into your RefWorks account. Your references should appear in the "Last Imported" folder.

- Click on Save/Print/Email blue oval button
- Select "Full record - Omit refs" from the Show menu
- Select the proper file format (PC or Mac)
- Save file to local disk as a text file.
- Go to EndNote
- Import the file, using the appropriate database filter ending with "(CSA)," e.g., "PsycINFO (CSA)." If you do not have the ncessary filter, check the EndNote Filter site.
Troubleshooting tip: If a filter isn't available for the particular CSA database you're using, try exporting the citations into RefWorks instead. You can then export the references from RefWorks in "Bibliographic Software" format as a text file. You should then be able to import the references into EndNote using the Reference Manager (RIS) filter.

For individual records:
When viewing the full record display, click on the button. You will be prompted to log into your account and the record will be added to your RefWorks account.
For multiple records:
Save the references to your computer:
- Use the "Save Marked Records" or "Save All On Page" buttons to save references. When viewing a single item in the Catalog, use the "Save Record" button to save it to your list.
- Click on "E-mail/Print Saved Records" button.
- Choose "Full Display" and save the records to "Local Disk."
Import the References into RefWorks:
- Go into RefWorks and click "Import."
- Select "Innovative Interfaces INNOPAC" as your import filter and "Dartmouth College Library Catalog (Full Display)" as your Database.
- Browse for and select your saved file.
- Click Import
NOTE: Library Locations and Call Numbers are not imported..
Another option for getting references from the Catalog into RefWorks is to search the Catalog directly using RefWorks. After you've logged into your account, use the following menu path: Search > Online Catalog or Database. Once you are at the search screen, choose DARTMOUTH from the list of available databases. After you get your search results, mark the citations for transfer into RefWorks and click the "Import" button.

E-mail the references to your computer:
- Use the "Save Marked Records" or "Save All On Page" buttons. When viewing a single item in the Catalog, use the "Save Record" button to save it to your list.
- Click on "E-mail/Print Saved Records" button.
- Choose "MARC" and email the records to yourself.
N.B. The records MUST be emailed - if yousave them as a file to your computer, you will not be able to import the references.
- Open the email and save the message to your computer as a text file.
Import the References into EndNote:
- Open an EndNote Library and select Import under the File menu
- Choose the file to import and set the import options to Dartmouth Catalog (MARC). You will need to download a copy of the filter: Macintosh filter ; Windows filter.
- Set the Text Translation to Latin-1.
- Click Import
NOTE: Library Locations and Call Numbers are not imported.
Another option for getting references from the Catalog into EndNote is to use a connection file. Instructions and connection files can be found in the EndNote Help for the Library Catalog. An advantage to using the connection file is that it imports Library Location, Call Number, and Status information.

Save the references to your computer:
- Select references by clicking on the "Add" folders to the right of the individual references.
- Click on the "Folder has items"
- Select the items using the check boxes.
- Click on the "Export" link.
- Set the radio button to "Direct Export to RefWorks" and click the "Save" button. You will be prompted to log into RefWorks and your references will be imported automatically.
Manually Importing if Direct Export fails:
- Instead of choosing "Direct Export to RefWorks," choose "Generic bibliographic management software."
- Click the "Save" button.
- Your browser will display your references in tagged format. Select your results and copy them to your clipboard.
- Log into your RefWorks account.
- Under the "References" menu, choose "Import."
- Set the Import Filter/Data Source to EBSCOhost. Set the Database to the appropriate EBSCOhost database.
- Click the radio button "Import Data from the following Text"
- Leave the "Encoding" thing alone. It is set at "Latin-ANSI I"
- Paste the references from your clipboard into the text box and click the "Import" button.

Save the references to your computer:
- Select references by clicking on the "Add" folders to the right of the individual references.
- Click on the "Folder has items"

- Click on the "Export" link.
- Set the radio button to "Direct Export to EndNote..." and click the "Save" button. EndNote will launch and you will be prompted to choose the EndNote Library. The references will then be added to the EndNote Library you've chosen.
The above procedure uses the "Direct Export" option, which is wonderful when it works. If it doesn't, try this:

- Export citations in the RIS format; a file will be downloaded to your desktop.
Import your references into RefWorks:
- Go to RefWorks, Choose Import
- Select ScienceDirect RIS format, GeoBase as the database
- Select Import and Choose File; browse for the file that was saved and hit the Import button
TRAP: IF you also have EndNote on your computer, the export command will open EndNote and prompt you to locate an EndNote library in which to download the information.

Go to Google Scholar and open "Scholar Preferences."
- Scroll to the bottom of the page to "Bibliography Manager."
- Set the popup menu to show links to import citations into RefWorks.
- Click the "Save Preferences" button.
When you do searches in Google Scholar, a link will appear below each reference titled, "Import into RefWorks." Clicking on this link will prompt you to log into your RefWorks account and the reference will be automatically imported. Be sure to check the imported reference for accuracy. |

Save your records as follows:
- To save all references in your list, click the "email entire list" button on the right side of the results page. To save selected references, click the "mark" button for each relevant citation and then click the "marked list" button in the left column.
- Email the references to yourself in "download format."

Import the records into RefWorks using these settings:
- Set the "Import Filter/Data Source" pop-up menu to "Ingenta."

- Select "ISI (Institute for Scientific Information)"as your Import Filter and the appropriate ISI database you used as your Database.
- Select your file using the Browse button.
- Click Import.

- When prompted, choose the desired EndNote Library that you wish to save references to. The will import automatically.
If you have not downloaded the Export Plug-In from ISI:
- Save the citations as a text file by leaving the popup menu to "Field Tagged." Click the "Save to File" button.
- Open the desired EndNote Library.
- From the FILE menu, choose "Import."
- Set the filter to ISI-CE and choose the file to import.
- Click the "Import" button.

Importing records:
- Mark each citation from your results set that you wish to export.
- At the top of the results list, click the "Export Citation" link. A screen will appear with your selected citations and offer several export options, including RefWorks.
- Click on "RefWorks" to initiate a direct export. You will need to set your browser to allow pop-ups from JSTOR. If the direct export fails, (1) make sure your browser allows pop-ups from JSTOR. (2) If you are logged into RefWorks, logout and then try initiating the direct export again.

Importing records:
- Each citation in your search results has a link, "Export this Citation."
- Click on the "Export this Citation" link. A screen will appear that will offer several export options. Choose "RIS file (EndNote, ProCite, Reference Manager)"
- Save the file.
- Open EndNote and use the Import feature with the Reference Manager (RIS) filter.

If the above method fails, try this, which will involve making a "text-file" and saving it to your hard drive and then going to EndNote and importing the file.

- Create the file and note the name of the file when it is saved to your computer.

- Import Filter data source should be NLM PubMed.
- Database should be PubMed.
- Navigate to the file on your computer using the browse button in RefWorks.
- Leave the "Encoding" settings alone. It is set at Latin-ANSI I.
- Click the IMPORT button.
